The Most Unbelievable Lawsuits Ever Filed

The United States is often thought of as a very litigious society, and while many people do like to pursue legal action, as evidenced by the most unbelievable lawsuits ever filed, this doesn't equate the nation as a whole as a "sue happy" country. According to the European Chamber of Commerce New York, four other nations top the U.S. as the most litigious countries by capita – Germany, Sweden, Austria, and Israel.

America's powerful judicial system allows people to seek justice through the courts for what they consider perceived wrongs. While many lawsuits are legitimate, many claims may be more than slightly outrageous. It brings to mind the case of a woman who was burned by hot coffee at McDonald's and won $2.9 million from the company, or a K-pop star who was sued by his fans for being too good-looking. You just can't make this stuff up.

To uncover some of the most unbelievable lawsuits ever filed, 24/7 Tempo searched online archives of various news sites like CNN, Reuters, and NBC. We focused on lawsuits stemming from what most people would consider very minor inconveniences. Some lawsuits even end up being fodder for late-night comedians. (Check out the hardest working comedians of all time.)
