"It Ends with Us" Controversy
If you've been keeping up with entertainment news, "It Ends with Us" had a lot of controversies surrounding it, despite being a box office success. Both Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni filed lawsuits and claims. Blake Lively claimed Justin Baldoni sexually harassed her while filming "It Ends with Us." Baldoni didn't take this lightly.
Justin Baldoni's Lawsuit
After Blake Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, Baldoni fired back. About 11 days after she filed, Baldoni responded with a lawsuit against The New York Times for publishing false information. He alleged that The New York Times cherry-picked messages and emails in their published article to mislead readers.
$400 Million Civil Lawsuit
Justin Baldoni didn't just file a lawsuit against The New York Times, but also against Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloan, and Vision PR for defamation and extortion for about $400 million.
Lawsuit Fully Dismissed
Although Baldoni's legal team isn't going to give up, the lawsuit was dismissed this Monday (June 9, 2025). Blake Lively and her legal team celebrated the win, but Baldoni's lawyer is already looking at the next steps.
Next Steps
Baldoni is already looking at the next steps. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, is filing an amended claim. While the judge did throw out the lawsuit, the Court invited Baldoni's team to amend four out of the seven claims against Blake Lively.
