Each animal species has unique features and capabilities. One of the most incredible qualities that certain animals have is enormous physical strength. When we look at some of the strongest animals in the world, it's easy to see that while nature is beautiful, it can also be dangerous.

When you think of the most powerful animals, you might think of rhinos, elephants, and bears. While these animals do make the list of the strongest animals in the world, not all the strongest creatures are large. The leaf cutter ant, for example, is one of the strongest creatures when you compare its strength to its size. This type of ant can lift things up to 50 times its body weight, which is impressive for such a small insect.

Animals use their physical strength for many different purposes. Some use their strength for hunting while others use their strength for protection. No matter what the purpose of their strength is, it's amazing to see just how strong certain animals are and how much weight they can carry. (After this article, check out The Longest Living Animals in the World.)

To determine some of the strongest animals in the world, 24/7 Tempo consulted sources such as BBC, Popular Science, and Britannica. Here are 11 of the strongest animals on Earth in no particular order.
