- Year the Character Died: 2023
Since the show premiered, it was shown that patriarch Logan Roy had many medical problems, but it all came to a head when he died during the final season of the show. While it's not completely surprising to see a character die at the end of the show, he died with seven episodes left in the season, which had people scratching their heads.
It was a very dramatic episode as Roy's children called him one by one as he lay dying from heart and health issues. Still, no one expected it to happen so soon.

This occurred during the premier of the seventh season, and it started things off with a bang. After that, viewers had to deal with Glenn's death during the remainder of the season.
Tracy McConnell
- Show: "How I Met Your Mother"
- Cause of Death: Illness
- Year the Character Died: 2005
With a show with a title like this, it's only natural that audiences would be excited about finally meeting the mother, but no one expected it to be like this. At the end of the series' run, it was revealed that the mother died of an unspecified illness only a few years after meeting Ted.
This was not a sudden surprise hatched by the writers. Instead, there were clues throughout the show's run that hinted at her death. Still, it seemed like a cop-out, and audiences who had watched the show for years felt betrayed and let down.

Many consider Brian to be the star of the show, and while many people assumed Brian would be back, they were still upset.
Luckily, Stewie Griffin had invented a time machine and brought Brian back to life in the next episode. Still, fans who thought the death was permanent were beside themselves.

- Year the Character Died: 2011
During 2011, actor Charlie Sheen was on a rampage. He thought he wasn't getting a fair deal while working on this sitcom, and he made a public show of himself. He was so fed up that he left the show. The show's creator wanted to make sure that Sheen could never come back, so he had him killed off.
It happened off-screen while he was on vacation when he was hit by a subway train. While fans expected him to leave, it was still a bit shocking that he actually left considering what a favorite he was on the show.
Nicholas Brody
- Show: "Homeland"
- Cause of Death: Hanging
- Year the Character Died: 2013
Most fans of the spy show "Homeland" will tell you that the show can be split into two halves. The first seasons focus on the enemy of the state, Nicolas Brody, and then everything that came after it. It's widely agreed that the first three seasons are the best because actor Damian Lewis knocks it out of the park as the criminal.
However, Brody was killed off in season three. It enraged viewers because it meant the end of something big for the show, and the remainder of the series just wasn't the same.

Many beloved character deaths enraged viewers during the series run of "Game of Thrones," but the passing of Jaime Lannister was particularly shocking. In the second to last episode of the series, Jaime rushed back to his sister, Cersei, which was particularly shocking on its own due to how she had treated him over the years.

Prue Halliwell
- Show: "Charmed"

- Year the Character Died: 2001
The show "Charmed" aired for eight seasons. That's a long time considering that Prue Halliwell, played by series star Shannen Doherty, was killed by an assassin during season three. It was a shocking loss, but looking back, it wasn't so crazy.
The rumors are that there was real-life drama on the set, particularly between Doherty and co-star Alyssa Milano. The show was never quite the same after that, even with the addition of actress Rose McGowan.
Marissa Cooper
- Show: "The O.C."
- Cause of Death: Car Crash
- Year the Character Died: 2006
One final character death that enraged viewers was when "The O.C." creators killed off Marisa Cooper. It was at the hands of her jealous ex-girlfriend.
