The Celebrities Who Said “I Do” Six Times or More (And Would Probably Do It Again)
Love takes many forms. For some, especially Hollywood elite, it means trying again and again, no matter how many marriages it takes. These celebrities didn't stop at one wedding, or even three. They kept walking down the aisle, proving that romantic resilience is alive and well in Hollywood and beyond, for better or worse.
Each of these stars chose to say "I do" at least five times in their lives. Some found lasting happiness later in life, while others embraced marriage as a chapter worth repeating, even with the same person they once married. These stories reflect not just fame and fortune, but an enduring belief in love's potential, however unpredictable and outlandish it may be.
247 Tempo brings you the celebrities with five or more marriages, referencing articles from People, BBC, Business Insider, and historical biographies. Each entry offers a glimpse into their marriages, relationships, and why their love lives continue to intrigue the world.
This post was updated on July 21st, 2025, to reflect additional information.
Joan Collins
She wasn't just a style icon. Joan Collins' fame was due to her talent as an actress and author. She was beloved throughout her career by her fans and the men who had the pleasure of calling her their wife. She married five times, spending the most time with her current husband, Percy Gibson, whom she married in 2002. She was also married to Peter Holm, Ron Kass, Anthony Newley, and Maxwell Reed. She remains a figure of refined elegance and old Hollywood glamour, proving a woman can retain her class even when she faces high-profile divorces. She found the key to a happy marriage, demonstrating how love can prevail.
Eddie Fisher
Eddie Fisher continued to believe in love, even after ending his first four marriages. He was with his first wife, Debbie Reynolds for four years and spent five years married to Elizabeth Taylor. A couple of years after his split with Taylor, he united in marriage with Connie Stevens and they spent two years together. Six years later, he married Terry Richard but their marriage only lasted one year. Having taken a nearly 20-year break from marriage, Fisher again decided to marry Betty Lin and their marriage was the longest, lasting eight years. As an American singer and actor, he had no shortage of ladies lining up to be with him and it's evident by how many women happily said, "I do."
Tony Curtis
American actor, Tony Curtis, was known for playing a range of roles. In some films, he was a comedic genius while in others, he took on much more serious, dramatic roles. His career spanned over 100 films and along the way, he met several women who were eager to call him their husband. Curtis first married Janet Leigh in 1951. After their divorce in 1962, he married Christine Kaufman in 1963. They divorced in 1968 and he went on to quickly marry Leslie Allen that same year. His marriage with Allen lasted until 1982 and he took a two-year break before marrying Andrea Savio. Later, he married Lisa Deutsch but that union lasted only a year. His last and final wife was Jill Vandenberg Curtis. He spent the last years of his life with her.
Hedy Lamarr
Known for her beauty and grace, Hedy Lamarr never had to worry about suitors. Not only was she a beautiful actress, but she was also a celebrated inventor. Her first marriage was to Fritz Mandl between 1933 and 1937. Later, she married Gene Markey in 1939. When they divorced in 1941, she moved on with John Loder. After a three-year marriage, she married Teddy Stauffer for a one-year union. A year after their divorce, she moved on to marry Howard Lee. She finally settled with Lewis J. Boies, whom she married in 1963. But that marriage was not meant to last either. That relationship was her final marriage, which ended in divorce in 1965.
Rue McClanahan
Rue McClanahan was the ultimate sitcom actress, known for her roles in "Maude," "Mama's Family," And "The Golden Girls." She married a total of six times and her husbands included Tom Bish, Norman Hartwed, Peter DeMaio, Gus Fisher, Tom Keel, and Morrow Wilson. She had one son with her first husband, Mark Bish, and she was married to Morrow Wilson when she died unexpectedly in 2010, leaving him a widow after their thirteen-year marriage.
Billy Bob Thornton
Actor Billy Bob Thornton is not one to leave love alone. He first married Melissa Lee Gatlin in 1978 and remained with her for two years. He let time pass before his second marriage to Tony Lawrence in 1986. That marriage was short-lived and in 1990, he married Cynda Williams. He seemed to have a streak for short marriages until he married Pietra Dawn Cherniak, whom he remained married to between 1993 and 1997. In 2000, he married Angelina Jolie and they remained together for three years. It took nearly a decade for him to remarry after Jolie but he found love again and married Connie Angland, his current wife, in 2014.
Richard Pryor
Famous comedian and actor, Richard Pryor, was an incredible storyteller. He needed plenty of life experience to be the performer he was and he didn't hesitate to marry more than half a dozen times. What makes Pryor's story interesting is that he remarried two of the same women. First, he married Patricia Price in 1960. Later, he married Shelley R. Bonus in 1967. By 1977, he was married to Deborah McGuire. In 1981, he married Jennifer Lee for the first time. By the time 1986 rolled around, he married Flynn Belaine but they called it quits after one year. Realizing it was a mistake to part, he remarried Belaine in 1990 for one more year. Ten years later, he and Jennifer Lee reunited and they were married between 2001 and 2005.
Elizabeth Taylor
British and American actress, Elizabeth Taylor, is well-known as a style icon. She lived an ultra-luxurious life and was revered for her timeless beauty. She was also an activist. Her love life was a topic of discussion as well, as she married a total of eight times, once marrying the same man twice. Her first husband was Conrad Hilton Jr. from 1950 to 1951. She then married Michael Wilding in 1952 through 1957. That same year, she married Mike Todd and they remained together for a year. Next was Eddie Fisher from 1959 to 1964. In 1964, she married Richard Burton and they stayed together for a decade. A year after their divorce, they remarried for one more year. Her second-to-last husband was John W. Warner and her last "I do" was to Larry Fortensky, whom she was with from 1991 to 1996.
Lana Turner
Lana Turner is another celebrity who married over a dozen times. She was an actress whose beauty left many in awe. Artie Shaw was the first man to capture her heart and ask for her hand in marriage. However, that marriage didn't even make it a year. In 1942, she married Joseph Stephen Crane but divorced him one year later. They gave it another go that same year but again divorced a year later. In 1948, she married Henry Topping Jr. By 1953, she was married to Lex Barker. They remained together for four years. In 1960, Turner married Frederick May. In 1965, she married Robert P. Eaton. Her last and final husband was Ronald Pellar, whom she was with between 1969 and 1972.
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Alas, we reach the indomitable Zsa Zsa Gabor. Gabor was a socialite and actress who married nine times. Except there is a twist. One of those marriages was illegal. Her first husband was Burhan Asaf Belge, her second husband was Conrad Hilton, her third was George Sanders, her fourth was Herbert Hutner, and her fifth was Joshua S. Cosden Jr. Her sixth husband was Jack Ryan followed by Michael O'Hara. When she then tried to marry Felipe de Alba, it was annulled because she was still legally married to O'Hara. After Felipe de Alba, she married her last husband, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt. That makes for nine weddings, but only eight husbands.
