When it's time for an adventurous getaway, a chain hotel just doesn't cut it. You want to have a complete reset, which means you either want to bask in the wilderness, tucked away without Wi-Fi and phone signals, lay out in the sun and take a dip, or explore adrenaline-pumping adventures. You may be more inclined to stay in an entire villa to enjoy the open space, never venturing too far. Or you may be the type who simply needs a soft place to land after a full day out and about exploring a new environment.

Some of these rentals are not for everyone. There may be steep ladders, cockpit sleeping quarters, and chilly, open-air environments that require extra blankets (and walks to the bathhouse). But there are also spacious rentals for the whole family (including kiddos), those with fire pits and pools, and those stocked with games like foosball, cornhole, and even playgrounds. There are several treehouses, a yellow submarine (you read that right), a '90s-themed playhouse, and a covered wagon that invites you to explore American history.

To compile this list of insane Airbnb rentals, 247 Tempo reviewed several news sources and features on the Airbnb website, where they highlight their most unique stays.
