South Dakota is known for its beautiful National Parks and impressive historical attractions. In the Mount Rushmore State, visitors can find buildings dating back over a century. One such building has even been converted into a hotel and is available to rent out for a night for a hefty price. Let’s dive into this hotel and a few of the other most expensive places to stay in South Dakota. (After this article, check out the Top National Parks to Explore When the Weather is Perfect.) It should be noted that nightly rates vary significantly by date, unit type (studio, one-bedroom, penthouse) and season.

This post was updated on September 30, 2025 to clarify rates affected by season, history of The Bank Hotel, up-to-date rate ranges, location of Mt. Rushmore Resort, and dining options at the Hilton.
