The world is filled with many breathtaking natural wonders and hidden gems that are awe-inspiring experiences that often words and photographs can't describe accurately enough. The pure beauty of these destinations can seem incomprehensible, something that needs to be witnessed in person. Many hidden gems might be locales of legend while others might be places you've probably never heard of.

24/7 Tempo compiled a list of hidden gems around the world you've probably never heard of. These lesser-known locales consist of natural formations, man-made marvels, and rare or strange occurrences that should invigorate your sense of adventure.

Some of these places are so remote that they have remained secret treasures, only witnessed by locals and the most determined explorers. Others were built by creative people who wished to fill the world with mystery. (If you prefer other places to visit, take a look at the top summer destinations for 2024.)

Beauty can be found in the most unlikely of places. No matter how they came to be, these places may inspire you to look around and seek out marvels near and far. Luckily, you can experience many through the photographs of other avid explorers.

Here are hidden gems around the world you've probably never heard of.

Methodology

To compile a list of hidden gems around the world you've probably never heard of, 24/7 Tempo reviewed travel magazines such as National Geographic Traveler and travel blogs. We picked places that vary from man-made structures such as unique hotels to naturally formed lakes in national parks. We aimed for a list that represents all seven continents.
