Since its inception in 1964, the "Jeopardy!" television game show has challenged contestants with clues in hundreds of categories. With a format unlike any other show, where contestants have to answer clues in the form of a question, "Jeopardy!" introduced an interesting way of answering clues, and, while unknown at the time, created a show that would become an iconic American game show.

The original aired for 11 years, and show creator Merv Griffin brought it back in 1984, with a new host – Alex Trebek – and a new location – the original program filmed in New York City at the legendary 30 Rockefeller Plaza with then-host Art Flemming. The military is one of the categories long-favored by the showrunners since the reboot first aired in 1984.

To test your knowledge about the military with these real "Jeopardy!" clues, 24/7 Tempo went through J! Archives — a site created by fans of the show that lists clues dating back to 1984 — to identify some of the most interesting and challenging questions about the military. The game show has built up legions of fans as contestants and viewers who challenge themselves on various topics including the military. (Also See The 21 Greatest Generals in American History.)

The clues presented by the show have a significant amount of questions regarding the American military. They include clues about military terminology, famous generals, tactics, installations, and wars. In the process, they have brought an entertaining way to learn into our homes nightly. (To prepare for any sports-related segments, don't miss the WNBA All-Star Game.)

It has also led several contestants to carve out celebrity status of their own, including James Holzhauer, whose streak of 32 straight wins in 2019 helped propel "Jeopardy!" to new ratings highs, and Amy Schneider, who became the first woman to win $1 million on the show. Another celebrated contestant, Ken Jennings, became the show's host after Trebek passed away in 2020.
