"Jeopardy!" has consistently been one of the top game shows in the United States since it premiered in 1964. Once taped in New York City with host Art Fleming, the show moved to the West Coast in 1984 and debuted with new host Alex Trebek, who hosted for 37 seasons until he passed away in 2020. With a rotation of hosts, former contestant Ken Jennings resumed sole hosting duties in 2023, the game show is still one of the most-watched programs in syndication.

Few other programs have dominated American television like "Jeopardy!" Over the years, it has become part of pop culture, and even elevated to cult status. Many people enjoy answering trivia questions on topics from geography to science and part of the fun is playing along at home and testing your knowledge.

24/7 Tempo went through J! Archives, a site created by fans of the show that lists clues going back to the show's beginnings, and selected 50 questions where the answer is one of the 50 states. If you think you know U.S. states, prove it with these actual Jeopardy! questions and answers. We included some that may stump even former champions.

Test your knowledge of U.S. states by taking this Jeopardy! Quiz.
