Hollywood has been doling out cinematic experiences for centuries. From the silent era that gave us "A Trip to the Moon" (1902) and "Nosferatu" (1922) and the golden age of cinema that entertained us with "King Kong" (1933) and the "Wizard of Oz" (1939) to more recent times with "Pulp Fiction" (1994) and "A Quiet Place: Day One" (2024), these films have kept us entertained and excited that we've experienced their cinematic artwork.

When a new movie comes out, audiences are generally very excited to see it. Leading up to the release of a film, studios often immerse the public with ads, promos, trailers, and even merchandise, increasing the viewers' enthusiasm to check out a film in theaters. But once the film has been released, people tend to move on, ready to see the next big thing.

It's not always easy to pinpoint what makes a movie so enjoyable that viewers can't get enough of them. Half the movies on this list were surprise hits, or not at all, and only grew in reputation as the years went by. Other movies seem designed specifically for their ability to re-watch and enjoy for years to come. Yet others, for one reason or another, fail to capture the public's imagination and fall into obscurity quickly after release.

Be it a sense of nostalgia or just expert filmmaking, the movies listed here often use classic storytelling with modern twists to keep bringing the audience back for more. Themes like the battle of good and evil, man vs. nature, and man vs. machine all seem to play a part in the criteria for a rewatchable movie.

Often, it seems as though it's movie magic, where the right script falls into the right hands and the right cast sells their performances. Whatever the case may be, certain movies provide fully realized worlds with satisfying stakes that beg the audience to make return visits. (To see if the new Marvel film, "Deadpool & Wolverine," will be a film you can't get enough of, check it out in theaters).

To compile a list of films we can't get enough of, 24/7 Tempo consulted a range of entertainment and cinema sources. We then selected films that seemed to reach the biggest audience while staying in the public consciousness for years after their release, often being consistently shown as reruns on television. Aspects of the plot and critical reception of the films were confirmed using sites like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
