Honestly, most, if not all, of the food we eat are fusion foods. Still, there are some dishes best known for their interesting combinations. Click through the slideshow for fantastic food fusion examples you just have to try.
Sushi Burrito
The sushi burrito combines two of the best things ever – sushi and burritos. This delicious fusion meal mixes Mexican and Japanese influences to create a colorful and hearty dish. It's been around since at least 2008.
Arroz Chino Boricua
Have you ever heard of Arroz Chino Boricua? It's a Chinese friend rice served in Puerto Rico, and it's a staple on the island. This delicious fusion food mixes the spices of Puerto Rico with the flavors and dishes of China beautifully. It's usually served with sweet fried plantains.
Spam Musubi
Spam musubi is mouthwatering good. Although commonly served in Hawaii, it isn't entirely indigenous to the island. Instead, this snack/meal combines Japanese and American foods to create a great dish. It was first created around World War II and was a fast and cheap lunch dish for plantation workers.
Korean Fried Chicken
Korean fried chicken is growing popular globally. This dish was first created during the 1950s when American soldiers brought it to South Korea. Although Korean fried chicken existed before this, the frying technique wasn't the same. The popular crackly chicken now is also slightly different as it's been perfected over the years.
Colombian Burgers
Have you ever had a Colombian burger? This absolutely yummy dish combines American and Colombian cuisine and flavors. Colombian burgers are usually thicker than American burgers and contain potato sticks.
Birria Ramen
Mexican and Japanese food mesh well. Another Mexican and Japanese-inspired dish to make our list is birria ramen. It takes Japanese ramen noodles with Mexican birria and seasonings.
Cuban Pizza
Italians influenced a lot of food in Cuba, making their own style of pizza. Cuban pizza is doughy, thick, and full of cheese. It's also served in a small, personal size.
Bánh Mì
Although most people know bánh mì as Vietnamese, it's actually a fusion food. This sandwich has a lot of French influence, mainly the bread which was brought to Vietnam in the mid-19th century.
Chicken Teriyaki Tacos
Teriyaki has an interesting origin. Although most people consider it a Japanese ingredient/flavor, it is used all across Asia. Chicken teriyaki tacos are a popular dish, mixing Mexican and Asian influences.
Italian Poutine
Have you ever tried Italian poutine? It's a dish that combines Canadian and Italian flavors and ingredients. It's a quick and simple meal to cook up, using marijuana instead of gravy.
Yucamochi
Yucamochi isn't as popular as sushi burritos, but it's such an amazing dessert. This dish is from Peru but has Japanese influences.
Curry Risotto
Curry risotto is full of flavor. It's a flexible dish that you can make with all sorts of curry. Coconut curry and red curry risotto are more common. This dish combines Indian and Italian flavors and ingredients for the perfect fusion.
