25 States Where President Trump is The Most Popular

Since returning to office in January 2025, President Trump's approval rating has declined. According to Gallup, 40% of Americans currently approve of his performance, down from 47% at the start of his second term.

His slipping numbers come amid a series of controversial policies, including sweeping tariffs, federal workforce reductions, aggressive immigration enforcement, and actions critics argue could limit free speech. His signature legislative achievement, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, is projected by the Congressional Budget Office to add $3.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade while extending tax cuts and reducing SNAP and Medicaid benefits.

While some moderates and independents appear to be pulling back their support, Trump remains highly popular in certain parts of the country.

Using survey data from Morning Consult, Tempo identified the states where President Trump is most popular. States are ranked by net approval rating, calculated as the share who approve minus the share who disapprove, based on responses collected from June through August 2025. Only states with a positive net approval rating are included. Supplemental demographic data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey.

Among these states, Trump's net approval ranges from +1 to +29 points. The highest-ranking states are largely Republican strongholds that he carried decisively in the 2024 election.

These are the states where President Trump is most popular.
