Whether you're a beach bum at heart or you're thinking ahead to the day when you can finally cash in your chips and retire by the sea, you may already be on the hunt for the perfect home in the perfect beach town. Well, we have you covered. When it comes to affordability, many people think a seaside home is out of reach. But we've got good news. There are, in fact, some affordable places you can pitch your beach umbrella and settle in, and we're excited to share them here.

Methodology

To determine the most affordable beach towns, 24/7 Tempo reviewed five-year data on median household value and median household income from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2022 American Community Survey. Cities, towns, and Census-designated places were ranked based on the ratio of median home value to median household income. Only places with at least 2,500 residents that intersect a beach were considered. Boundary definitions for places came from the U.S. Census Bureau, while boundary definitions for beaches came from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
