We all have movies we love, that one film we often watch over and over again and know almost every scene, every character, and what they say at the exact moment. For those of us who fondly recall the 1980s, a decade often remembered for its materialism and consumerism and touted as "the greed decade," it was a time that seemed to be epitomized by Gordon Gekko, that notable character from the film, "Wall Street" who famously stated, "greed is good."
The 80s wasn't only a time of excess and greed. It was also a decade defined by pop culture, with the rise of MTV and a flourish of blockbuster movies. But for every movie that made it big, others, however good they may be, just didn't have the same cultural impact and faded from memory. These films may have been excellent in their own right, but they failed to leave an impression on mainstream culture.
To compile a list of forgotten favorites: the best films from the 1980s, 24/7 Tempo consulted numerous sources, including IMDb. Some people do recall these movies, and look back at them with fond memories, and while they are still some of the best films from the 1980s, they are all but forgotten.
