9 Fictional Sports That We Wish Were Real
Sports are a great way to get together, move your body, and alleviate stress. Although there are plenty of sports you can take up, like soccer, football, baseball, and even bowling, the world of fiction does it better.
Writers are creative. They come up with the strangest games and concepts. Most, sadly, don't exist in the real world, like the ones we've listed in this slideshow.
For this slideshow, we've compiled a list of some of the coolest fictional sports that should be real. We used entertainment websites as sources and reviewed a mix of video games, movies, and shows. Which of these would you play?
Quidditch
We are starting with one of the most well-known fictional sports – Quidditch. Who wouldn't want to play this game from the Harry Potter series? Technically, you can. There are teams throughout the world, but you won't be flying in the air.
Mario Kart
Okay. Mario Kart isn't exactly a sport, but it is a game that would be so cool if it really existed! Millions of people from around the world would try this racing game in a heartbeat.
Flonkerton
Have you heard of Flonkerton? If you're a fan of "The Office," you have to remember this silly game! Within the series, it's joked to be the national sport of Icelandic paper companies. It's basically a race, but with paper boxes on your feet.
Holt's Medal of Valor
The Halloween episodes where the crew at "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" try to steal Holt's Medal of Valor are the best. Wouldn't it be fun to do something similar? On one day of the year, everyone tries to creatively and successfully steal an item, and it gets harder year after year.
The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games from the movie and the book of the same name is a cool concept, minus the killing, tyrannical government, and shady practices. Having a safe, PG-13 version would be great!
Baseketball
The "South Park" creators have a long list of movies, including "Baseketball," which introduced the sport of the same name. Although not a real sport, it should be. The game was even invented in the movie! Like the name suggests, it combines aspects of baseball and basketball. Weird, right?
Rocket League
While most of the fake sports on this list have come from TV shows, books, or films, this one is actually a part of a video game series. Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game. This is also exactly what it sounds like. Imagine playing soccer while driving a car.
Rollerball
Fictional sports games would be so cool in real life if they weren't so violent or dangerous. This includes Rollerball, which is introduced in the 1975 film "Rollerball."
Dragon Racing
If dragons were real and were trainable, who wouldn't want to participate in dragon racing? This fun sport featured in the How to Train Your Dragon series would be a blast in real life.
