Avoid These Once-Beloved Celebs (Now Totally Cancelled)

The word canceled is thrown around everywhere. Even when celebrities are ‘canceled’ by the media or fans, it doesn’t mean their career ends entirely. There is almost always a fanbase ready to welcome them with open arms. Keep this in mind while scrolling through our slideshow.

Although true, being canceled can truly impact your career. It may never be the same as some people have a different view of you. This is true for quite a few celebrities on our list. After they were canceled, their careers were never the same.

To find these celebrities, we focused on using entertainment sources and websites. After that, we deeply researched the controversies behind the cancelation of each celebrity. Have we missed any?

J.K. Rowling

The author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, was canceled a few years back for her transphobic comments. Old fans were hurt by her comments and refused to watch any of the newer movies.

Shia LaBeouf

In 2020, Shia LaBeouf was canceled and highly scrutinized by the internet for allegations that he abused his ex-girlfriend. FKA Twigs is suing him for his abuse. He’s flip-flopped on his involvement. At first, he agreed that he hurt himself and others in his life and later denied the allegations. Soon after the lawsuit came to light, Netflix removed LaBeouf from “Pieces of a Woman.”

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres’ career isn’t over, but allegations now turn off a lot of her old fans. In 2022, allegations surfaced that DeGeneres had a toxic workplace and was too intense during her show. Ex-employees spoke up about the treatment.

Travis Scott

Another celebrity canceled was Travis Scott. After the disastrous AstroWorld, fans couldn’t see him the same way, even if the problem was with the venue. Still, at his concert, eight people died, while two others passed in the hospital.

Ezra Miller

Ezra Miller has been involved in several controversies over the last five years. Better known for his role as the Flash in the DC movie universe, he’s been charged with disorderly conduct and harassment. He’s also been accused of grooming and assault.

Chris Brown

Chris Brown has a long history of domestic abuse. It’s not just Rhianna, although this is the most well-known case. More recently, in 2022, Daisia Frank filed a $20 million civil lawsuit against Brown for sexual assault.

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan still has a large following, but he has received a lot of backlash for spreading misinformation on his podcast. He’s also made plenty of problematic statements.

Roseanne Barr

Be careful what you Tweet. The internet is forever. Roseanne Barr managed to both get canceled and cancel her show because of racist Tweets.

Brad Pitt

It’s hard to ignore Brad Pitt, as he is everywhere. However, he’s had a lot of allegations, including emotional abuse against Angelina Jolie, his ex-wife. His kids also speak up against him, and many have even dropped his last name.

Russell Brand

Way too many celebrities have been accused of sexual assault. Although not surprising, it is sad. Russell Brand was accused multiple times in the early and mid-2000s, resulting in his cancellation (kind of). He’s still active in the film industry.
