An increasing number of well-known figures are embracing parenthood later in life — well beyond the age most people associate with raising young children. It’s no longer unusual to see prominent names welcoming babies in their seventies or even eighties.
Although new parents are typically imagined as younger, these celebrity stories show that fatherhood has no expiration date. Whether it’s a first child or another addition to a growing family, late-in-life parenting among stars continues to draw attention and challenge expectations.
To highlight this trend, 247 Tempo compiled a list of celebrities who became fathers or welcomed new additions after turning 70. The research draws from reporting by People, Parents, NBC Montana, E! Online, and regional outlets including 96.3 KKLZ and WROR, as well as background details from entertainment and lifestyle coverage of notable Hollywood figures.
Kelsey Grammer
The Frasier star is about to become a father for the eighth time, expecting the fourth child with his wife, Kayte Walsh. In June 2025, they were spotted in London where she displayed a visible baby bump.
Robert De Niro
In April 2023, actor Robert De Niro and Tiffany Chen welcomed daughter Gia Virginia Chen De Niro. The actor was 81 years old at the time of her birth.
Al Pacino
Not to be outdone by his acting contemporary, Al Pacino also welcomed a baby in 2023, at the age of 83 years old. He and his then-girlfriend, Noor Alfallah, welcomed little Roman Pacino. The two are no longer romantically involved but are forever linked by their baby boy.
Charlie Chaplin
The famous silent film star welcomed his youngest child, Christopher, with wife Oona O’Neill in 1962 at age 73.
Tony Randall
After the death of his first wife (high school sweetheart), with whom he never had children, actor Tony Randall went on to take another wife, Heather Harlan, who was 50 years his junior. It was with Harlan that Randall welcomed his first child at age 77, and his second a year later at age 78.
Billy Joel
This music icon became a father in 2017, welcoming daughter Remy Anne with Alexis Roderick when he was 71.
Mick Jagger
The famous rocker is known for having a steady stream of children throughout his illustrious career. His youngest, son Deveraux, was born in 2016 to Mick and girlfriend Melanie Hamrick when Jagger was 73 years old.
