If you're keeping an eye on tickets for the Eastern Conference Finals where the Knicks will be playing, one thing's clear: the prices are steep. Many fans are balking at the expensive cost to see their favorite team, especially knowing the game may not be very close. How would you feel if you overpaid to see your team and they were absolutely crushed by their rivals?

Significant score differentials vary across sports, with some seeing them more frequently than others. In baseball or soccer, large point spreads are relatively rare, but in basketball, they occur more often. In college basketball, blowouts are fairly common, but in the NBA, where the rosters feature the world's top players, games usually result in much narrower margins of victory.

But what about the defeats that are much more obvious and devastating?

To compile a list of the largest margins of defeat in basketball history, 24/7 Tempo consulted a range of sports and news publications including The Analyst, Sports Illustrated, and Givemesport.com. We then selected games in NBA history that featured a remarkable margin of victory, averaging between a 50- and 70-point lead and confirmed the circumstances and movements of each game using sites like ESPN.com and NBA.com
