Many of us have heard the adage, "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first" popularized by American writer Ernestine Ulmer. This is probably one of the most factual statements in history. Dessert may not always be the most healthy part of a meal but it is certainly the most delicious and nobody wants to miss out on it. But if you're counting calories, sometimes you skip the best part. Other times you realize there are indulgent desserts that are worth every calorie.
We don't typically eat dessert to be healthy – the very definition of the word is "the sweet courseeaten at the end of a meal" – but we also don't want to eat an entire week's worth of calories and fat in just one serving. Knowing what you are eating is just as important as how much so you can avoid calorie-laden desserts that appear healthy but aren't (there's also fat and sugar to consider). The items listed here are indulgent desserts that are worth every calorie. (Click here to read about milkshakes that have more calories than entire meals.)
