We've all seen TV cooking shows, and it always seems easy, but what looks easy on television isn't always easy in real life. Cooking can be quite difficult. Preparing a dish from scratch, with raw ingredients, that culminates in a completely plated delicious dish is a skill that can take years to master; even some of the greatest chefs in the world are still learning – and honing – their craft.

When it comes to cooking and baking, although it can be intimidating, and at times, frustrating, practice, like most things in life, always makes perfect and the only way to ensure that a dish will get better is to keep preparing it. This doesn't mean you won't ever make mistakes in the kitchen. Everyone is prone to errors, even professionals, but all hope is not lost; several common kitchen mistakes are quite easy to fix.
