The baseball season is heating up with exciting races for playoff spots in several divisions. Recent rule changes, like the pitch clock and revised shift regulations, have sped up the game. While this season has seen some significant highlights, it’s worth noting that not every season is worth celebrating. Today, we’ll cover some of the most disappointing seasons of baseball in MLB history.

You’ll probably be surprised by how disastrous some of these seasons were. While many of the worst seasons happened in baseball's early years, showcasing teams like the Cleveland Spiders, Pittsburgh Alleghenys, Louisville Colonels, and St. Louis Browns, you'll also see that some recent seasons have been equally dismal, including those of the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles. Each of these challenging seasons has its own fascinating story behind it.

To identify the worst seasons of baseball in history, 24/7 Tempo has examined each team’s record at the end of the year. Given that baseball dates back to the 1850s, many changes have occurred over time, including variations in season length and number of games played.
