28 Catchphrases From Television That Defined Every ’60s Kid’s Childhood

Ah, the good ole 1960s. Talk about a far-out time for technology. We were just starting to tinker with computers, zapped our way into the future with lasers, and those little microchips? Brand new! Oh, and no big deal, we sent some guys to the moon with machines that had less computing power than the calculator on your desk. Meanwhile, the television became king by the end of the decade, nearly every living room had one humming, and it was probably the first form of a digital babysitter.

TV wasn't just for cowboy shows anymore. With the Cold War and Space Race heating up, sci-fi took off like a rocket. We got hooked on tales of outer space and the inner mind. And when it came to the news, folks tuned in religiously to the likes of Walter Cronkite, if he said it, you believed it.

To dig up the catchphrases that stuck with us like gum on a go-go boot, 24/7 Tempo browsed sites like ClickAmerica, Quotecatalog.com, IMDb, and good ol' Reader's Digest. Turns out, plenty of those zingers from classic shows are still bouncing around in Boomer brains today. (Also See The Best Spy Shows of All Time.)
