10 of the Rarest Guns That Collectors Seek Out

Collectors of all kinds have their prized pieces, and gun collectors are no exception. Some gun auctions have brought in over $30 million for rare and collectible firearms. Interestingly, these guns don't always need to be in working condition to hold value. In fact, many collectible firearms can't be fired without risking irreversible damage. Despite being purely display pieces, some of the rarest guns command high prices due to the prestige of owning them.

In many cases, their value comes from limited production runs or unique features. Some models exist in extremely small numbers, and a few are even one of a kind. Others gain value from custom engravings, historical significance, or famous previous owners. Regardless of the reason, rarity plays a major role in what makes these firearms so sought after.

To create this list of rare guns, we focused on models with limited production. Some, like the Infernal Machine, were handcrafted by individual inventors and never mass-produced. Others are standard models with unique modifications or historical backgrounds. Once we identified potential candidates, we researched each firearm using manufacturer data, historical records, and auction results. For guns not sold into private hands, we reviewed details from public collections to understand their significance and provenance.
