July is a great month for fireworks, hot summer days, swimming, and fireflies. But did you know it’s also National Ice Cream Month? This delicious month is the perfect excuse (although, who needs one?) to enjoy all the ice cream your heart wants!
President Ronald Reagan declared July 9, 1984, as the nation’s official Ice Cream Month. Originally, it was intended to celebrate the ice cream industry in the U.S. and its impact on the economy. While still true, it’s now seen as a month for companies to offer great ice cream specials and deals to boost their sales.
National Ice Cream Day is also very close. This day falls on the third Sunday of each July. But why only celebrate one day? A month sounds so much better.
For this slideshow, we collected strange flavors based on internet users and their input on websites like Reddit. Click through the slideshow for the weirdest ice cream flavors you just have to try! Which have you tried? Better yet, which ones are you willing to try?
Wasabi Ice Cream

Wasabi. Yup, that wasabi. The spicy, bitter-tasting wasabi. This strange ice cream isn’t very easy to find, but it might be worth a try to satisfy your curiosity. According to Reddit users and internet strangers who have tried this flavor, it’s similar to mint, with a spicy, bitter aftertaste.
Salt Licorice Ice Cream

Although not common in the United States, salt licorice ice cream is a Finnish treat that is widely available in Sweden and Finland. The ice cream is a dark, ashy grey, typically coated with a thin layer of black. It’s definitely an interesting choice.
Pear and Blue Cheese Ice Cream

Pears and blue cheese is a delicious mix. But would you eat it if it were an ice cream? It’s a weird but yummy treat sold by Salt & Straw.
Pizza Ice Cream

Are you daring enough to eat an entire pint of pizza ice cream? Some people are. Van Leeuwen sold this bizarre flavor. Their other flavors are tamer.
Cottage Cheese Mint Ice Cream

Cheese seems to mix with everything. This is one of the tamer flavors on our list. Cottage cheese and mint mixed ice cream are a lot more common than you’d think. One search on the internet, and you can find dozens, if not hundreds, of recipes.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese

Macaroni and Cheese lovers, specifically those who love Kraft cheese, may be disappointed to learn that this was a limited-edition ice cream. It is no longer sold in stores. When it was, though, those who tried this strange treat stated it really did taste and look like Kraft cheese.
Weißwurst Ice Cream

You might have to search for a long time before you find this flavor. Weißwurst, also known as white sausage, is an ice cream flavor sold in a few shops in Germany. It’s more of a novelty flavor, though than a true treat.
Poutine Ice Cream

Don’t dismiss it till you try it. Potatoes, gravy, ice cream, and sugar go surprisingly well together. Several restaurants serve this treat, although in varying forms. For some spots, it’s a flavor, and for others, it’s a full dish.
Spruce Ice Cream

We eat leaves and vegetables, so why not trees? Spruce ice cream is pretty good. You can find it in some ice cream shops (although not many) or even make it on your own with spruce tips. One of the best spruce ice creams you’ll ever have is in Alaska in the store Wild Scoops.
Everything Bagel Ice Cream

Unless the company re-releases this popular but odd flavor, you might be out of luck. Jeni’s Everything Bagel Ice Cream is an ice cream made from a slightly sweet cream cheese base with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onions, and garlic.
Beer Ice Cream

Beer ice cream isn’t too weird. It’s a popular flavor worldwide, found in countries like Germany and Lithuania. It’s ice cream infused with beer. The flavors vary. In 2015, Ben & Jerry’s partnered with New Belgium Brewing Company to create special-edition beer flavors using New Belgium’s Brown Ale.
Deviled Egg Custard

Salt & Straw is known for making the weirdest limited edition flavors, like Deviled Egg Custard. This super egg-tasting ice cream didn’t last long. Apparently, it really tasted like deviled eggs.
Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Ice Cream

For quite a while, many companies partnered with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos to create unusual mixes, such as macaroni and cheese with Cheetos. Nothing was stranger, though, than Marble Slab’s collaboration with Cheetos.
Mountain Dew and Doritos Ice Cream

Following the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Ice Cream, we’ve got Mountain Dew and Doritos Ice Cream. It was made by Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream, a local ice cream shop in Columbia, Missouri. Talk about creativity.
Garlic Ice Cream

To be fair, you aren’t about to walk into any grocery store or ice cream shop and find garlic ice cream, but it does exist! Garlic ice cream is exactly what you think it is – ice cream made with garlic. While hard to find, you can get this ice cream at the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California.
