20 Pro Athletes With Shockingly Long Careers, Despite Their Poor Stats and Plays

The world of sports typically involves athletes working incredibly hard to rise to the top. In this highly competitive world, athletes in peak performance often have to work harder than others to stay at the top of their game. Certain sports careers aren't known for their longevity, where the risk of injuries is a big factor, and there is always someone else who might be faster, better, or more agile than those already in the game.

It would appear to be the general understanding that an athlete who isn't performing as they should should be replaced by another athlete who is more talented, better adept in their field, and capable of getting the job done. Yet, this isn't always the case. Throughout the history of certain sports franchises, leagues like MLB, the NFL, NHL, and NBA, some players have remained professional athletes despite putting up lackluster statistics.

To determine the least talented athletes with surprisingly long careers, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data from the Sports Reference family of sites on veteran players in the NFL, NHL, MLB, and NBA who played hundreds of games with the lowest overall contribution to their teams' success. Though these athletes were never statistically impressive, they managed to stay on a professional roster. Let's check out their underwhelming stats now.
