Rock 'n roll has transformed the music industry in many ways. Since the genre originated in the 1940s, rock bands such as The Beatles, Aerosmith, and Journey have taken the world by storm and created music that will go down in rock 'n roll history.

While rock 'n roll is a genre that originated in the 40s and 50s, by the 1960s, the term rock music was more widely used and included a range of music types. Nowadays, there are many types of rock music including classic, alternative, hard rock, and grunge. Each type of rock music has had a unique influence on the music industry.

As rock music continues to evolve and events such as Mayhem Festival 2024 keep the love for all things metal alive, it's interesting to look back on some of the musicians who paved the way for today's rock music.

Many rock artists had one hit album before either retiring or creating a string of less popular albums. (After this article, check out The Most Successful Rock Artists of All Time.)

To create a list of one-hit rock 'n roll albums, 24/7 Tempo consulted sources such as Rolling Stone, ABC News, and Forbes. We created a list of 10 rock 'n roll bands with one hit album in no particular order.
