The 50 Songs That Stayed the Longest on the Billboard Hot 100 This Year

The 50 Songs That Stayed the Longest on the Billboard Hot 100 This Year

Taylor Swift stood out as the reigning pop sensation in 2023. This isn’t surprising news, considering Swift’s immensely successful Eras tour, her ascent to billionaire status, and her position as the most streamed artist on Spotify throughout the year. However, it’s noteworthy that she wasn’t the artist whose songs maintained the longest presence on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023.

To determine the songs with the longest stays on the Hot 100 in 2023, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on chart performance from Billboard magazine. Songs were ranked based on the total number of weeks spent on the Hot 100 in 2023. In the case of a tie, the song that stayed at a higher position on the charts for longer was ranked higher. Chart data is current through December 2, 2023.

Country music star Morgan Wallen from Tennessee had the most songs with extended stays on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2023. Six of Wallen’s hits remained on the chart for a combined 209 weeks. His songs “Thinkin’ ‘Bout Me,” “Everything I Love,” and “Last Night” were among the top 10 longest-charting songs of the year, with “Last Night” having the longest run overall. That song was one of nine chart-topping No. 1 hits that made the list of songs with the most weeks on the Hot 100 this year.

In 2023, Wallen wasn’t the only country artist experiencing crossover triumph. Luke Combs, a singer/songwriter hailing from North Carolina, and the versatile rapper Jelly Roll achieved similar success with two songs each having extended stays on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, Zach Bryan and Bailey Zimmerman also contributed to the country music presence on the charts.. (Here are the artists with the longest streaks in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.)

Taylor Swift has reached a level of popularity comparable to Michael Jackson and The Beatles. She had three singles that lingered on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023. Her songs “Cruel Summer” and “Anti-Hero” both hit No. 1 on the chart. R&B singer-songwriter SZA, who originally gained attention through her self-released EPs, claimed the two longest stays on the Hot 100 this year with “Snooze” at 48 weeks and “Kill Bill” at 48 weeks. “Kill Bill” eventually climbed all the way to the No. 1 spot. SZA led the pack for most weeks on the chart among all artists in 2023.

Here are the songs with the longest stays on the hot 100 in 2023.
