Songs With the Longest Stays on the Hot 100 in 2023

Taylor Swift was the dominant pop star of 2023. That’s not exactly breaking news as Swift, who spent the year on her lucrative Eras tour, became a billionaire and was the most streamed artist on Spotify. She was not, however, the performer whose songs had the longest time on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023.

To determine the songs with the longest stays on the Hot 100 in 2023, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on chart performance from Billboard magazine. Songs were ranked based on the total number of weeks spent on the Hot 100 in 2023. In the case of a tie, the song that stayed at a higher position on the charts for longer was ranked higher. Chart data is current through December 2, 2023.

The performer whose songs stayed the longest on the Billboard Hot 100 was Morgan Wallen, a country singer from Tennessee, who had six songs that occupied the Hot 100 for a total of 209 weeks. Three of his songs were among the top-10 longest stays for 2023: “Thinkin’ ‘Bout Me,” “Everything I Love,” and “Last Night,” with the latter song summiting the list. “Last Night” was one of nine songs on our list that reached No. 1.

Wallen was just one of the country stars enjoying crossover success in 2023. Others included Luke Combs, a singer/songwriter from North Carolina, and multi-genre rapper Jelly Roll, who each had two extended-stay songs on the Billboard Hot 100, Zach Bryan, and Bailey Zimmerman. Swift, whose success has become a phenomenon rivaling that of Michael Jackson and The Beatles, had three extended-stay singles on the Hot 100, and two, “Cruel Summer” and “Anti-Hero,” topped the chart. R&B singer/songwriter SZA, who rose to fame via self-released EPs, had the two longest stays on Billboard Hot 100 in 2023 — “Snooze” and “Kill Bill,” both at 48 weeks. The latter song summited the Hot 100.
