The Most Iconic Quotes from the Harry Potter Films

The Most Iconic Quotes from the Harry Potter Films

For many Harry Potter fans, the obsession began even before the release of the first Harry Potter movie. While the first book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” was released in 1997, the first movie wasn’t released until 2001.

Watching the book series come to life in the movies was an exciting adventure for Harry Potter fans. Additionally, the movies alone created a lot of new Harry Potter fans who hadn’t read the books.

Now, as a major franchise that has brought in over $7 billion from the movies alone, Harry Potter is a phenomenon that’s popular across the world. With a popular book series, eight popular films, and even part of a theme park dedicated to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, there’s no doubt that the Harry Potter films are successful.

There are only seven Harry Potter books in the series, but there are eight films total. This is because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book, is broken into two different films.

Out of all eight films, there are numerous memorable Harry Potter quotes. Some quotes are funny, others are heart-wrenching. Anyone who watches the films can be encouraged by the wisdom of Dumbledore, laugh at Dobby’s quirkiness, and appreciate the friendship between the three main protagonists: Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

From the saddest line in Harry Potter to the best Harry Potter quotes about courage, we’ve created a list of the most famous Harry Potter quotes from the movies.

To create this list of the most famous quotes from the Harry Potter films, 24/7 Tempo consulted several media sources including Time Magazine and IMDb. We consulted the quotes listed from each movie on IMDb, paying attention to their ratings and popularity.  (Also See The 50 Greatest Movie Quotes of All Time.)
