Iconic Movie Stars Who Dominated the 1980s Silver Screen

It was the decade that introduced MTV to audiences, that celebrated big hair and neon clothes, and that encouraged decadence. The Brat-Pack was in full effect, starring in a host of teen movies that would stand the test of time. Yuppie culture was alive and well and movies of the time reflected a significantly more lighthearted perspective than the decade prior. There was superficiality and consumerism, but the talent of the decade also found a way to touch on more serious topics in film.

Some of the actors who rose to stardom in the 1980s came from broken homes and unstable living arrangements while others had the opportunity to step into show business following their parents’ footsteps. Some dreamt of becoming actors from childhood while others stumbled upon their talents serendipitously. (Also See 19 Stars Who Hit It Big After 40.)

To compile this list of the top movie stars of the 1980s, 247 Tempo reviewed IMDb, an online hub of all things movie-related.
