The Wildest Things Celebs Have Demanded in Their Home Renovations, According to Contractors
Celebrities with large pockets have some of the wildest homes costing millions. Many of them have multiple homes, like Beyoncé and Jay-Z. One of their homes was bought for a whopping $9 million!
They are just one celebrity couple with expensive homes and even more interesting renovations.
Who could blame them? What would you do if you could renovate your home with practically limitless funds? Well, according to contractors, home tours, and celebrity interviews, here we have some of the wildest renovations and celebrity homes.
Celine Dion's Waterpark Home
While Celine Dion no longer owns this luxurious home in Florida, she once renovated it to include waterpark features. Imagine owning a home where you could casually take a lap in a private lazy river. Her waterpark home included two large swimming pools, two water slides, a calming lazy river, and water cannons.
Naomi Campbell's Egytian Eye of Horus Home
Would you gift someone an eco-house in the shape of an eye? Well, reportedly, Naomi Campbell was gifted this home in 2011. On Cleopatra Island in Turkey's Gulf of Gökova sits her Egyptian Eye of Horus home. The home is massive and includes 25 bedrooms and is energy, water, and food self-sufficient.
Neil Patrick Harris's Money Mansion
People are into what they are into. Apparently, Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, love taxidermy monkeys. It's to the point their home is filled with them, including a built-in bar decorated with monkeys on top.
Johnny Depp's French Village and Skate Park
Are you interested in owning a private French village? Well, Johnny Depp did, although it's been put on the market for years. This large French village has more than enough space for one person. It includes 37 acres of land with buildings like a decorated wine cave and a skate park. Depp has also restored the buildings and stones.
The UFO-Inspired Hope Residence
Bob and Dolores Hope built one of the strangest homes. Completed in 1979, the two entertainers lived in a spaceship/UFO-looking home in Palm Springs, California. The home is about 26,000 square feet and includes a pool in the shape of Hope's profile. The two entertainers have since passed away, and now Ronald Burkle owns the home.
Rufus Wainwright's Magical Fairytale Cottage-Castle
Would you live in a fairytale cottage if you could? Well, you wouldn't be the only one. Rufus Wainwright purchased a large fairytale cottage in 2016 that looks like something out of a book. As of late 2024, it's been on sale for $2.2 million. The cozy home includes a lovers' bridge, a stunning garden, and plenty of bookcases.
Lenny Kravitz's Working Farm
Not all celebrities live in the city; some are more interested in serene retreats and farm life, with luxury. Lenny Kravitz has an impressive Brazilian working farm compound that he's renovated to include a gym, waterpark, and recording studio, as Kravitz draws a lot of inspiration from his home.
Robert Downey Jr.'s Windmill House
It's rare to see a celebrity live in the home they buy for more than a few years. It feels like every celebrity is just constantly selling and buying new homes around the world. Well, not Robert Downey Jr., who loves his strange windmill house. This charming home was never a real working windmill; instead, its unique beauty is what captivated Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey.
Michael Jordan's Infinity Pool
Michael Jordan's Chicago estate is now (as of summer 2025) on the market. The mansion is massive, but the really cool feature is the infinity pool with a green grass island. On top of this, the home also has an indoor basketball court and a private pond stocked with bluegills and bass where you can actually fish.
John Travolta and Kelly Preston's Airport House
Do you love airplanes? Would you live on a private airport? Well, John Travolta and Kelly Preston did. They purchased and built a home in Ocala on a private airport. The home has five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a pool, and a beautiful garden. The family, with the exception of Kelly Preston, who sadly passed in 2020, still lives in the home, even after purchasing it in 2001.
Nicolas Cage's Gothic Las Vegas Mansion
Everyone has their decorative tastes, and Nicolas Cage's is a blend of fantasy and exoticness. His Las Vegas mansion is impressive, alongside his list of pets, including an African crow that flies in a large dome. He also has a monitor lizard in his home with a massive cage.
Dick Clark’s Flintstone House
Dick Clark's former home was made of rock and inspired by the Flintstones. The house's cave-like structure doesn't end outside. Even inside the home, there are barely any straight lines to hang art as the curved walls mimic rocks. Unlike the insane mansions on this list, this Flintstone home is small, boasting only 1 bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms.
