The Highest Grossing Comedies of All Time

The Highest Grossing Comedies of All Time

With so many intriguing movie genres to choose from, it shouldn’t be surprising that comedies get so much love from audiences. Action movies are great since they’re full of massive explosions, impressive stunt work, shoot outs, chasing sequences, and physical fights. Romances are delightful because they remind the world that true love might be around the corner at any given moment. Documentaries are top-tier since they offer informative insight and loads of information to viewers who are curious enough.

Still, comedies reign supreme since they’re known to lighten the mood and make people feel better about whatever they’re going through. Someone might be super stressed out by all the obligations they have at work. They might be going through drama with their best friend or romantic partner. They might even be facing financial hardship. Regardless of what’s happening in your life, comedies somehow make you feel a little better. This is likely because they wholeheartedly distract you from all the troubles looming in your daily existence. Even temporary distractions in the form of comedies can be worthwhile, despite the fact that they only run for an hour or two.

Movies like “Coming to America” helped hilarious comedian Eddie Murphy gain more notoriety in the Hollywood industry. Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne came together to create cinematic magic when they starred in “Bridesmaids” back in 2011. Plenty of comedy lovers mention Jim Carrey when rattling off names of their favorite funny actors. One of the most amusing movies he starred in was “Liar Liar” in the late 90s.

These are feel-good movies that send audiences into fits of laughter. If it’s true that laughter is the best medicine, these are the movies that will give viewers long and healthy lives. (On the topic of hilarious films, click here to uncover the 19 best comedy movies ever made.)
