The Biggest Love Songs Since 2000

The Biggest Love Songs Since 2000

The 2000s was a great time for music. During this decade, and on, we’ve seen a rise in music with emotional undertones, which is perfect for creating passionate love songs. Although punk and rock music was still popular, like in the ’90s, hip-hop and R&B grew rapidly. Popular artists of the 2000s and on include Alicia Keys, Eminem, Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé, Rhianna, and Kanye West.

International music is also on the rise. It’s not just American or British artists making it to the top 10 or 100 lists. Instead, you can find music groups and artists like Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and BTS that produce beautiful and catchy love songs.

The 2000s was a fun time, and not just for music. Many movies were released with interesting plots and excellent casts.

Love songs are unique and diverse. They aren’t just about feeling love but can be about all the stages of love. Some love songs are even full of grief and heartbreak. Something to keep in mind while searching for love songs or reading this article is that love takes on many forms. Love doesn’t always refer to a romantic relationship or connection. It can also be between mother and child, siblings, grandparents, and more. A popular love song, with ties to the loss of a grandparent is Avril Lavigne’s “Slipped Away.”

Generally though, when people think of love songs, they picture songs of passion, sweetness, and charm across genres. A favorite love song for many, featuring sweet lyrics is “Trouble” by Never Shout Never. How can you not swoon when hearing “damn, what’s not to adore?”

To determine the biggest songs about love from 2000 or later, 24/7 Tempo reviewed historic performance data from the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Songs containing the word “love” in their title that charted in 2000 or later were ranked based on an inverse point system wherein a week at No. 1 is worth 100 points, a week at No. 2 worth 99 points, and so on, up to a week at No. 100 worth one point. Only songs that reached No. 10 or higher on the Hot 100 were included. Chart data is current through March 16, 2024.
