Though some recording artists released online concerts to appease fans during the pandemic, dozens of festivals and hundreds of tour dates were cancelled or postponed in 2020 and earlier this year. Some musicians used their time off from performing as an opportunity to write and record new music, with many releasing critically acclaimed albums in 2020 or 2021. Here is the most popular album every year since 1960.

Now, with summer in full swing and music venues reopening after extended shutdowns, live concerts — especially outdoor shows — are ramping back up, and audiences can look forward to seeing their favorite artists in person as well as enjoying their latest recorded efforts.

To identify this summer’s 25 hottest stars, 24/7 Tempo reviewed the cross-platform performance score (CPP) for the top 10,000 artists in the music industry, as reported on the music data analytics site Chartmetric. The CPP score measures the overall performance of each artist across multiple social media and music streaming platforms.

The list includes genres ranging from K-pop to reggaeton, rap to electronic dance. Comparative veterans like Maroon 5 and Coldplay are included, as are up-and-coming young artists like 18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo and 22-year-old Lil Nas X. Some famous musicians are included in this list of the most famous person the same age as you.

Whatever their age or style of music, these performers will be a major part of this summer’s soundtrack.
