As far as modern-day musicians go, Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest singer of this generation. Music lovers might argue that Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, and Adele are more beloved than Swift, but Swift has proven she can dominate in the music realm.
For starters, Swift currently has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Her net worth shouldn't come as a surprise based on her album sales and sold-out concerts.
Swift is the brains behind thought-provoking songs and insightful lyrics about the highs and lows of her actual life. She often uses her romantic relationships as inspiration for her songs, which is something her fans love about her. Swift gives the world a peek into the downfall of every failed romantic relationship she's ever had with songs that are moving, unforgettable, and catchy. Most recently, she released an album called "The Tortured Poets Department."
Swift's fans flocked to every music store across the globe to get their hands on the album. Everyone was hoping they'd uncover more details about what went wrong between her last boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. Interestingly enough, Swift used the majority of "The Tortured Poets Department" to shed light on the heartbreak she endured after calling it quits with a completely different ex-boyfriend named Matty Healy.
Over the years, Taylor's relationships with high-profile celebrities have led to the creation of beautiful songs for the world to obsess over. She's currently dating an NFL player named Travis Kelce, but before Kelce, she was linked to big names like Calvin Harris, Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas, Tom Hiddleston, and John Mayer. Every time she gets into the studio, it's like she's preparing to make magic for music lovers to blast on their radios based on the men who've impacted her the most.
Every once in a while, Swift agrees to collaborate with other talented music artists instead of recording music totally solo. Her collaborations prove that she's willing to share the spotlight with other people who have much to offer in the music community. Her collaborations also allow her to tap into unfamiliar music genres. While we're on the topic of Taylor Swift, click here to find out why "1989″ is her most popular album to date.
To compile this list of Swift's best and biggest music collaborations ever, 24/7 Tempo consulted several entertainment sources. These include Prestige Online, Billboard, Spotify, Planet Radio, American Songwriter, and Rolling Stone.
"End Game" featuring Ed Sheeran and Future
Swift made it clear that she's comfortable dipping into the hip-hop world with "Endgame" featuring Ed Sheeran and Future. While Sheeran isn't a hip-hop music artist himself, Future certainly is. Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter who's released song like "Shape of You," "Thinking Out Loud," and "Bad Habits." He's been around since early 2011 releasing alternative music on a consistent basis. Some people have wondered if he ever had a romantic connection with Swift.
In reality, Sheeran and Swift have always been good friends who know how to successfully collaborate on music. Future is beloved for rap anthems like "Mask Off," "Low Life, and "Young Metro." When the three of these individuals got together to record "Endgame," they knew they also had to film an epic music video to match. The music video showcases Swift, Sheeran, and Future partying together on a boat with all their friends in a nightlife setting.
"Snow On The Beach" featuring Lana Del Rey
Swift and Lana Del Rey have been friends for years. They've been recorded shouting each other out with praise and compliments in several interviews. The first song to put Del Rey on the map was called "Video Games" back in 2012. People around the world started to pay attention to Del Rey and her mysterious allure at that juncture. Fans of Swift and Del Rey begged them to collaborate a song together through social media channels like Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram.
Finally, Swift and Del Rey linked up for "Snow On The Beach." The song dropped in 2022, but it wasn't well-received at first. Fans felt they couldn't hear enough of Del Rey's voice in the song at all. They decided to re-record the track with more of an emphasis placed on Del Rey's vocal contribution. When Del Rey was performing at Coachella 2024, fans were hoping she would invite Swift on stage with her to perform "Snow On The Beach" for the first time. Although that didn't end up happening, fans are still holding out for the day when Swift and Del Rey perform the song together live.
"I Don't Wanna Live Forever" by Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift
People have been listening to Zayn Malik sing his heart out since the days he was part of One Direction. One Direction was active as a boy band from 2010 until 2016 with five members working together to create fun pop music. Malik joined the lineup along with Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. Eventually, he decided to pursue a solo career in 2015.
The rest of his bandmates continued for another year without him, but he wasn't bothered by that. One of Malik's solo pursuits was his collaboration with Swift called "I Don't Wanna Live Forever." The song doesn't technically feature either of them since it isn't included on their individual albums. It's part of the album for the "Fifty Shades Darker" movie soundtrack. It's the type of song that gives off a very seductive and sultry vibe.
"Breathe" featuring Colbie Caillat
Music from Colbie Caillat has a reputation for being soothing, calming, and relaxing. That's because Caillat has such a laidback tone to her voice. She rose to fame with the help of MySpace before other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok took over. Although she wasn't immediately signed by any labels, she made waves for herself as an independent artist. MySpace users were listening to her music on repeat.
Eventually, Universal Republic Records offered her a full-fledged deal and helped her release her debut album in 2007. Caillat's most noteworthy songs include "Bubbly," "I Never Told You," and "realize." Swift and Caillat released a song called "Breathe" in 2008 as part of Swift's "Fearless" album. The heartbreaking ballad describes how it feels to walk away from a relationship before you're ready to say goodbye.
"Lover (Remix)" featuring Shawn Mendes
When Swift first released "Lover" it was a breath of fresh air to hopeless romantics around the world. "Lover" is a beautiful song from her studio album (of the same name) that hit store shelves in 2019. The song and album were impactful since they came after Swift's departure from Big Machine Records. She released a music video for "Lover" using colorful backdrops and whimsical lighting. She also used the music video as a moment to highlight the beauty of interracial relationships.
Despite the success of "Lover" all on its own, Swift knew she wanted to push things a bit further with a remix. She released "Lover (Remix)" featuring none other than Sean Mendes later on that year. Mendes is a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in 2013 after posting covers of his favorite songs on Vine. As far as social media platforms go, Vine no longer exists… but it came in handy for Mendes when he was seeking clout and attention. Some of his other songs like "Treat You Better" and "Mercy" served as proof that he would be the perfect artist to collaborate with for "Lover (Remix)."
"Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar
Swift was all about business when she released "Bad Blood" in 2014 as part of her "1989″ album. The song was dramatic and intense in all the best ways. Pop music lovers believed Swift wrote the lyrics about her friendship fallout with Katy Perry that year. As a reminder, Swift and Perry were good friends until drama went down regarding the backup dancers they both wanted to hire for their tour dates.
As of now, Perry and Swift are on good terms again, but their friendship blowup was a hot topic of conversation about a decade ago. Kendrick Lamar hopped on the bandwagon to record a verse for "Bad Blood," and his verse added edginess to the song. Some of the biggest songs Lamar is known for on his own include "Money Trees," "Swimming Pools," and "Pray For Me." Swift and Lamar tell the story of a friendship fallout within the lyrics of "Bad Blood."
"Fortnight" featuring Post Malone
Another rapper to collaborate with Swift is Post Malone. Their collaboration is called "Fortnight," and it was recently released as part of her 2024 album, "The Tortured Poets Department." Plenty of people are surprised by this collaboration, but it doesn't come as a shock to folks who've paid attention to Swift's past collaborations with other hip-hop artists. Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, made a name for himself as a rapper, songwriter, and record producer back in 2015.
It all started with his hit song, "White Iverson." The song pulled in 10 Grammy award nominations and earned him a record deal with none other than Republic Records. Other big songs from Malone are "Sunflower," "Congratulations," "Rockstar." Now that Malone's worked with Swift on a professional level, his success will undoubtedly continue soaring in the right direction. "Fortnight" is a song about two people who used to love each other, even though they've moved on with new partners.
"Exile" featuring Bon Ivor
Bon Ivor is a indie folk band that's been around since 2006. Justin Vernon is the singer-songwriter who originally got the band together in the state of Wisconsin. Along with Vernon, other band members include Sean Carey, Michael Lewis, Rob Moose, Jenn Wasner, and Matthew McCaughan. Swift and Bon Iver released "Exile" in 2020 as part of her studio album, "Folklore."
The song tells the story of two ex-lovers who cross paths with each other after breaking up. When going through a breakup in the real world, one of the worst things that can happen is bumping into the one person you're no longer romantically involved with. This song sheds light on the emotional torture and discomfort that occurs whenever you see an old flame in the flesh.
"Karma" featuring Ice Spice
At the 2024 Super Bowl, tons of people were a little confused about seeing Ice Spice hanging out with Swift during the football game. Their friendship would certainly look confusing if you weren't aware of their collaboration from 2022. "Karma" came out as part of Swift's "Midnights" album that year. At the time, Swift and Spice also linked up to film a whimsical music video for the song.
Pop music lovers adored it so much that it raked in more than 60 million views. Spice's first solo song was released in 2021, and it was called "Bully Freestyle." After going viral on Twitter for participating in a challenge that thousands of people were egging on, she was ready for more fame. The challenge brought attention to Spice as a social media influencer, and now all eyes are on her as a rapper. "Karma" was one of the best career moves Spice could've made.
"Half of My Heart" by John Mayer featuring Taylor Swift
The biggest reason why "Half of My Heart" by John Mayer featuring Swift is such a big deal is that Mayer and swift used to be romantically involved. Swift and Mayer dated when he was 32 years old… and she was still only 19. They were linked from 2009 until 2010. Despite their age age, it seemed their relationship made sense based on their release of "Half of My Heart." The collaboration served as proof that Swift and Mayer could work well together in the studio.
For musicians everywhere, knowing how to record fabulous music with the love of your life is pretty exciting and magical. The love story between Swift and Mayer didn't last very long, though. Swift went on to release a scathing breakup anthem called "Dear John" in 2010. She broke down the nitty-gritty details of their failed romance, which took a lot of attention away from "Half of My Heart."
"Two Is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls featuring Taylor Swift
"Two Is Better Than One" is a beautiful ballad by a rock band called Boys Like Girls featuring Swift. Boys Like Girls has been around since 2005 after forming in Massachusetts. The band was destined for greatness after releasing their self-titled debut album, which sold more than 700,000 albums on their first attempt. Their early success says a lot about how great their music is.
Some of their most noteworthy songs include "The Great Escape," "Five Minutes to Midnight," and "She's Got a Boyfriend Now." The band members of Boys Like Girls include Martin Bennett Johnson, Paul DiGiovanni, Morgan Dorr, John Keefe, Gregory James, and Jamel Hawke. The group released "Two Is Better Than One" with Swift in 2009, which is a song about how beautiful life can be when you're sharing your daily experiences with your soulmate.
"Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw featuring Taylor Swift and Keith Urban
When Swift's career was first getting started, she released a song called "Tim McGraw" that fit perfectly into the country music category. Since then, Swift has moved on to a more pop music sound, but she still has roots in the country music world that she'll likely never let go of. When she collaborated with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban on a song called "Highway Don't Care," it was an exciting moment for all of her supportive fans.
From the outside looking in, it was clear that Swift manifested the chance to perform a song with the same exact man who inspired one of her earliest tracks. "Highway Don't Care" was released in 2013 as part of McGraw's "Lanes of Freedom" album. The song did so well that it pulled in multiple accolades. It won three American Country awards, two Country Music Association awards, one Academy of Country Music award, two BMI awards, and CMC music award.
"ME!" featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco
Panic! At the Disco has been around as a pop band since 2004. A group of childhood friends came together to make music magic happen in the early 2000s – and the band is still beloved to this day. Panic! At the Disco consists of Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson, and Brendon Urie. Some of their most noteworthy songs include "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," "The Ballad of Mona Lisa," and "Don't Threaten Me with a Good Time."
Urie linked up with Swift to collaborate on a song called "Me!" in 2019 as part of her "Lover" album. The song did so well that it won the MTV Europe Music Awards for best video, the BMI Pop Award for publisher of the year, and the Guinness World Record for most viewed music video within 24 hours. The views online aren't surprising since the song itself is so catchy. On YouTube, "Me!" has pulled in more than 429 million views in total. The song is about embracing your individuality and creativity.
"Everything Has Changed" featuring Ed Sheeran
Another song Swift and Sheeran collaborated on beyond "Endgame" is called "Everything Has Changed." The collaboration doesn't have a hip-hop vibe to it since Future and other rappers weren't also invited to the studio. "Everything Has Changed" was released in 2012 as part of Swift's "Red" album. The music video for the song currently has 409 million views on YouTube since it was first published 10 years ago.
This is the song that sparked questions from fans about whether or not Swift and Sheeran were secretly dating. As a reminder, the two artists share a platonic and professional friendship. The meaning behind "Everything Has Changed" was enough to make people wonder, though. The lyrics are about how much your life can suddenly shift after you catch romantic feelings for someone new.
"Florida!!!" featuring Florence & The Machine
Florence & The Machine is a beloved rock band that's been around since 2007 after forming in London. Florence Welch is the lead vocalist who works alongside keyboardist Isabella Summers, guitarist Rob Ackroyd, and harpist Tom Monger. Some of the biggest songs from Florence & The Machine have been "Dog Days Are Over," "What the Water Gave Me," and "Wish That You Were Here."
Swift recently collaborated with Florence & The Machine on a song called "Florida!!!" as part of "The Tortured Poets Department" album in 2024. Instead of the song being about love, dating, and relationships, the message is all about escaping from the mundane. "Florida!!!" dives into the topics of judgment, consequences, and the unwavering life choices we make every single day. There's a lot to love about Swift, including all of these collaborations.
